The update is currently only available for Apple TV, iOS 10+, Google Chromecast devices (2nd generation and higher), and Chromecast built-in to select TVs. DirecTV Now’s parent company, AT&T, has confirmed the new update will be available on recent-generation Android, Fire TV, and Roku streaming devices in the coming weeks.

The new DVR feature – which is clearly marked in the new version as still in ‘beta’ – supports 20 hours of recorded shows and movies at no additional cost for 30 days. AT&T said it is “working on rolling out more capacity options and features later this summer—which will let you keep more on your Cloud DVR for longer.” The company said it plans to offer a 100-hour option that will store programs up to 90 days, for $10 per month.
The updated DirecTV Now service supports 20 hours of recorded shows and movies at no additional cost for 30 days.
The company has also redesigned its user interface with a new ‘Watchlist’ that includes horizontal lists of live content in alphabetical order by channel, as well as trending and featured content in the same format.
In the same ‘Watchlist’ is the ability to view a library of recorded DVR content with the ability to select an entire list of all recorded content on one page, and a ‘Discover’ feature that allows for browsing by TV shows, movies, and subscribed-to networks.
A vertical guide allows subscribers to view what is currently live in a short list of channels. As for an on-screen guide, a swipe to the right moves the guide forward in time while a swipe to the left goes back in time or reveals a list to customize the guide for all, favorites, or genre. You can even use the ‘Jump to Day’ feature to move forward in 24-hour increments.

Additionally, the service is expanding its on-demand content of 25,000 titles depending on your subscription choices so that new episodes on select channels will be available on-demand after they air live.

The service plans to add a number of other features including access to local channels when traveling and the ability to watch shows the day after broadcast on some channels.
The service also announced the expected addition of three streams in individual TVs for an additional $5 a month.
DirecTV Now launched in November 2016 using the Apple TV app with an entry-level package price of $35 per month for over 60 channels.
At the moment, the service continues to offer a special promotion to the end of May in which people can get a free Apple TV 4K if they prepay for three months at a cost of $105.
